Thank you for posting photos of the tree. I am putting final edits on a memoir of a 97 year old Dutch-American friend who lived in Batavia-pre WWII. In Tjideng POW camp, there was a tree such as yours across from her housing. I needed to describe it. “A Sapphire Promise” should be published mid-May. I’ve had help from The Indo Project board members to ensure that I’ve told my friend’s story, while being sensitive to the colonial culture and how it is viewed today.
